Defensive Coordinator Turned Head Coach of the Chiefs

Thousands of people wait for a promotion every day. Romeo Crennel woke up one December morning and became the interim coach of the Kansas City Chiefs after the head coach, Todd Haley, was fired. After rallying the team to a 7-9 finish, the Kansas City movers were proud to root on their hometown team again.

Crennel did a great job of uniting the team with only one loss during his time as the interim coach. General manager, Scott Pioli, saw the fire come alive within Crennel. Pioli decided to place Crennel in contention for the head coach position along with former Tennessee coach, Jeff Fisher, Packers offensive coordinator, Joe Philbin, and former Jacksonville coach, Jack Del Rio.

Many of the Kansas City moving companies, like Kings Moving & Storage Inc., have staffs that are made up of huge football fans. Everyone anxiously awaited the announcement that arrived on Jan. 9. Pioli decided to keep his interim coach, Crennel, and officially made him the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2012-2013 NFL season.

Sporting Kansas City Sports an Englishman

Dom Dwyer didn't dream of playing football in the way most American boys' dream. The mouthguard, helmet and protective padding to better hit and tackle the other team with. Dwyer didn't want that. He dreamed of playing American soccer - the rest of the world's football.

His dream became a realization on Jan. 12 during the 2012 Major League Soccer Super Draft at the Kansas City Convention Center Grand Ballroom. The convention center erupted into shrieks and applause as Dwyer became Sporting Kansas City's first-round pick. The Kansas City movers couldn't be more elated to be rooting for the 21-year-old this season.

Dwyer became the second player from England to receive a contract offer from the soccer development initiative between the MLS and U.S. Soccer. All of the Kansas City moving companies look forward to seeing what the junior from South Florida can do for Sporting. The employees at Kings Moving & Storage Inc. plan on putting on their Sporting jerseys, giant foam fingers and will chant, "ole, ole, ole," after each goal Dwyer stuffs into the back of the net.

The Chiefs Face Loss on Sunday Night Football

Our Chiefs did not pull of a solid win in Sunday night's big game. The loss was not by much, but it always hurts to see our Chiefs not pull off a win. The Chiefs had a 13-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, with managing just 3 field goals for points. The Chiefs did have a big play when they recovered a football on Pittsburgh's first offensive drive. No points came out of it though, as they fumbled the ball right back. The real issue for the Chiefs was turning the ball over too many times. That was a critical part in Kansas City not pulling through. They did a great job going after Steeler Quarterback, Ben Rosthisberger, but it just was not enough.

According to Yahoo Sports, "The critical error came on the final drive of the game for the Chiefs. Tyler Palko (notes), in just his second start, was throwing downfield to Dwayne Bowe (notes). Bowe slanted in on the route while Palko thought he was going to keep running towards the end zone. Palko overthrew him and Keenan Lewis(notes) picked off the pass with 29 seconds left, 23 yards away from a game-winning touchdown."

Kansas City movers, Kings Moving and Storage is still rooting for our Chiefs. We will be glued to our T.V.'s this weekend as we face the Chicago Bears. Without Jay Cutler, we have a great chance of shining through and bringing home the win.

The Junction City office of King’s moving and storage is taking a stand. A stand against breast cancer. Many employees are wearing pink shirts as a tribute to those who have been affected by the terrible disease. Every Friday in October, the members of the Junction City team will be wearing pink as a tribute to the people in their life who have been affected by cancer. According to the Junction City Newspaper, General Manager, George Newby says, “We have all been touched by cancer is some way. My mother just had lung cancer. We thought this would be a good show to the community about cancer awareness.” Junction City movers, King’s Moving and Storage is doing a wonderful thing and is really showing the community that they care. Our very own Kansas City Chiefs play the Detroit Lions in Week 2 of Football. We are pulling for our Chiefs in hopes that they can defeat the aggressive Lions at Ford Field in Detroit this weekend. According to www.miamiherald.com, "The Chiefs have a 7-4 advantage in this overall series and had won four straight over the Lions before Detroit came through with a 25-20 home victory when these teams last met back in 2007. Kansas City had come out on top in two consecutive trips to the Motor City prior to that defeat, posting wins at the Silverdome in both 1987 and 1996."

Great Community Support After Deadly Tornadoes

After the recent tornado wrecked the town of Joplin, MO, many people felt compelled to help and try to aid in the relief/clean up. The Kansas City Star newspaper reported that everyone from church groups, sport teams and Scout troops to local businesspeople pitched in to aid in the relief program. In fact, so many people participated in relief efforts that Joplin was overwhelmed with donations - one recent report stated that the American Red Cross had t o displace tornado victims from a shelter in order to find room for all the donations. Charities on the scene are asking for help coordinating relief efforts and that people refrain from "self-deploying", with the president and CEO of Harvesters Community Food Network asking that donors "...give money, both to Harvesters as well as other organizations that in an organized and coordinated way are helping with the disaster response." Feeding American, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization has sent 25 truckloads of food, with six more ready for then Joplin is ready to receive them. It can be assumed that many trucking and moving companies in the Kansas City area, such as King's Moving & Storage have been recruited to help aid the clean up and the transportation of donations.

Whether or not this upcoming NFL season happens, I think it’s fair to say that Chad Ochocinco still won’t be on the soccer field. In what was sure to be a publicity stunt for an ESPN show that Ochocinco was filming, the Bengals wide receiver tried out with the Major League Soccer team Sporting Kansas City. While Ochocinco played soccer in his younger years, he is now known for the North American version of football. While Ochocinco showed off his speed for the team manager, Peter Vermes, he was still considered “a long shot” for joining the team. Even though Ochocinco offered to play for free and would surely boost merchandise sales for Sporting Kansas City, try not to hold your breath for an Ochocinco residency in Kansas City.

This year’s Kansas City FilmFest brings about new and exciting changes for moviegoers and filmmakers. Every year we look forward to aspiring filmmakers showcasing their work and giving us a little bit of excitement throughout the city. This year will be the fest’s first outdoor screening, shown in Power & Light District’s Living Room. The title playing, “Cost of a Soul,” recently won the “Big Break Movie Contest” sponsored by AMC Theaters. The FilmFest, which is low in cost, but high in culture, affords Kansas City residents the opportunity to get involved with the local entertainment scene. Professional Soccer Coach Still Has Time to Coach Local Youth Leagues

Major Indoor Soccer League’s (MISL) newest expansion team, the Missouri Comets, recently wrapped up their debut season with an impressive run which took them all the way to the semifinals of the playoffs. The team, which was named after the original Kansas City Comets, was coached by a familiar face to Kansas City soccer fans, Kim Roentved. Prior to taking the coaching position with the Missouri Comets, the 17-time all-star and fan favorite was well known throughout Kansas during his time with the MISL team the Wichita Wings. After retiring from soccer in 1999, Roentved has coached youth soccer clubs throughout the Kansas City area. One of the youth soccer teams that he still currently coaches is The Rangers, a U12 Premier soccer club based out of Shawnee. In fact, Nicole Long, an employee for King’s Moving & Storage in Kansas City, MO, is the proud mother of one of the girls on The Rangers and has nothing but good things to say about Roentved. “I am absolutely thrilled to have him be my daughter’s coach and mentor,” said Long. Authenticity of Newly Discovered George Caleb Bingham Paintings Debated

George Caleb Bingham, the 19^th century Missouri painter known for his work of American life in the frontier, has recently had the existence of 10 supposed paintings revealed. Bingham, whose 200^th birthday is currently being celebrated throughout the art world, is currently the subject of controversy because the previously mentioned paintings are unsigned. Fred R. Kline, a Santa Fe art dealer and researcher, has attributed the unsigned paintings to Bingham, but some art historians are questioning Kline’s findings.

While Kline said his authentication is based on his 30 years as a generalist art historian with various studies of Bingham works, the art community remains skeptical. Bingham, who was the president of the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners in 1874, is considered one of the greatest American painters of the 19^th century. Whether or not these 10 paintings are true Bingham works remains in question, but it will be interesting to see how this situation pans out.

With the winter weather that has been pummeling the city, streets and highways have collected up to 8 inches of snowfall in some areas. Snowfall has been heaviest and most unrelenting along and west of the Interstate 35 corridor. Driving conditions are described as “difficult and potentially treacherous” so take extra caution when driving to and from work and your other daily tasks. Though the intensity of the storm has decreased as of this morning, high winds will drift snow, causing issues for commuters.
